Stable and reasonable price
The price of graphite material is only 15% of the copper electrode of the same volume. At present, graphite has become a popular material for EDM applications. In comparison, graphite material has a lower cost and is more stable.
Easier cutting
Graphite has excellent machining properties. The machining speed of graphite electrodes is 2-3 times more than that of copper electrodes. At the same time, there is no need to worry about burrs after graphite machining.
Low thermal expansion coefficient
The melting point of copper is 1080℃, while that of graphite is 3650℃. The CTE of graphite is only 1/30 of copper. It is very stable even under ultra-high temperature conditions. Even in the processing of platinum electrodes, graphite electrodes have obvious advantages.
Light weight and low density
The density of graphite is usually 1.7-1.9g/cm3 (copper is 4-5 times that of graphite). Compared with copper electrodes, graphite electrodes will reduce mechanical loads in this process. It is more suitable for large molds.
Good cutting processing
Compared with metal materials, the volume of graphite is designed to be low. It has excellent machinability.
Super strong bonding effect
Crushed graphite can be bonded by adhesive, which saves time and material cost.
Excellent resistivity
Resistivity (ER) determines the resistance of a material to the flow of electric current. The lower the resistivity, the better the conductivity.
