Brown fused alumina (BFA) is an abrasive material made from roasted bauxite. In the production process of brown fused alumina, UHP 500mm graphite electrodes can be used for raw material smelting in electric arc furnaces.

Application of UHP500mm used in brown fused alumina and steel melting

Brown fused alumina smelting: In the production of brown fused alumina, UHP 500mm graphite electrodes are used in electric arc furnaces (EAFs). These electrodes serve as conductors and generate an arc between the electrode and the raw materials, which typically include calcined bauxite and other additives. The high temperature generated by the arc melts the raw materials, resulting in the fusion of bauxite and the formation of brown fused alumina.

Steelmaking: UHP 500mm graphite electrodes are widely used in electric arc furnaces for steel production. During the steelmaking process, UHP 500mm electrodes are placed inside EAFs to melt scrap metal and other raw materials.
