Graphite Electrode Application

Graphite electrodes are used in electric arc furnaces (EAF) and ladle furnaces (LF), used in steel production, ferroalloy production, silicon metal production and smelting processes.

The tips of these electrodes can reach 3000°C, which is about half the temperature of the sun. In addition to excellent mechanical strength, thermal expansion, thermal shock resistance and workability, high temperatures also help reduce the quality of the entire steel.

The growth in demand for steel in the construction, oil and gas, and automotive industries is expected to drive the development of the graphite electrode market. In 2018, about 50% of the world's steel was used in the construction and infrastructure industries.
