The Trend of Graphite Electrodes Export

As per customs data, China's graphite electrode exports in May 2024 were 23,700 tons, and the overall export volume suffered a bit of decline, a month-on-month decrease of 5.96% and a year-on-year decrease of 8.36%. The top three exporting countries are Turkey, Russia and South Korea. Among them, the total amount of graphite electrodes exported to Turkey was 1,860 tons, a month-on-month increase of 25.83%; the total amount of graphite electrodes exported to Russia was 1,680 tons, a month-on-month decrease of 25.33%. Although Russia is still one of the main countries in China graphite electrodes export field, the export volume has decreased this month; the total amount of graphite electrodes exported to South Korea was 1,640 tons, a month-on-month increase of 62.68%.

It is particularly notice for us that China exported 1,430 tons of graphite electrodes to Malaysia, a month-on-month surge of 163.74%. Malaysia's demand for Chinese graphite electrodes has increased significantly in near future. Affected by the anti-dumping policy, the total amount of graphite electrodes exported to Japan fell again in May, a month-on-month decrease of 23.34%.
