Classifications on Graphite Electrodes and their applications

Graphite electrode is applied in electric arc furnaces on most occasions. They are famous for the unique products available that come with high levels of electrical conductivity and the capability of maintaining the extremely high level of heat produced in EAF. Graphite electrodes can also appear in the process of refining steel in ladle furnaces and in some specific smelting progress. Different types of graphite electrodes have different uses. Normally, HP or RP graphite electrodes are used in the primary step of steel melting, such as the process of steel scraps melting into molten steel. In modern steelmaking manufacturers, Ultra High Power (UHP) electrodes are designed to meet the most high-requirement performance. Such as, it is preferred for ultra-high-power EAFs and advanced steelmaking processes, where precise control and high-quality steel products are necessary to be monitored in the production. So that, UHP graphite electrodes are always applied to the furnace for the refinement of steel or the second process of smelting steel. For SHP graphite electrodes, they can be found in the high technology industries.
