Xinhui carbon products manufacturing Graphite electrodes are also used in the zinc production process. During the process of zinc smelting, a series of reactions occur inside an electric furnace. Graphite electrodes are used to provide the necessary electrical current for these reactions to occur. The high temperatures generated in the furnace cause the electrodes to slowly erode and graphite particles are dispersed into the smelting material, helping to reduce impurities.
